I'm a Virtual HR Director for Tech Start-Ups, Small Businesses & Charities in the UK with between 1 and 300 employees. So, whether you're hiring your first employee, looking for affordable HR Support or want to build your dream team, I'd love to help you.

Having worked as an HR Director for big corporates for most of my career, it was only when I started helping some friends who ran small businesses that I realised how traditional HR consultancies and even ACAS are no longer helpful.

As a small business owner, when you need urgent HR advice, you don’t want to speak to an HR Advisor in a call centre, that has no real-world experience or never managed a team. And if you only need support on an ad hoc basis, you probably don’t want to sign up to lengthy subscriptions.

So in 2017, I decided to set up HR Refresh with the aim of offering modern HR support to smaller businesses & Charities. I wanted to offer a personalised service, where you always work directly with me and receive dedicated, personal support.

Over the years I’ve worked with a range of clients which include The Roundhouse, YMCA England & Wales, CopoFi, Yuvoh, Parkers Garage, Lokulus, Team Hen, Coventry Scale Ltd, Purity Beauty, George Williams College, Fubra and many more, which some great success stories.

 

Why work with me?

I have a Masters in HR Management and a degree in Business Studies, and I’m fellows accredited by the CIPD (which basically means I’ve proven myself as an HR Director).

During my career, I’ve worked for a variety of companies, in very senior HR roles, including Global HR Director for Pearson Technology and Head of HR at Argos.

I’ve done pretty much everything from helping hundreds of people be more confident and effective at managing people, improving employee engagement levels, solving complex problems like absence, conflict and poor performance as well as identifying how companies can work more effectively and become more profitable (yes really, that’s the role of a HR Director).

I’ve led a global team of 25 people myself, so I know first-hand how rewarding, yet challenging people management can be and how lonely it can be when you’re the boss.
